William Harvey Hospital
Ashstone MEP Ltd spearheaded the comprehensive MEP services for our client Bauvil across all phases of this project. Focused on maintaining seamless operations in the A&E department throughout construction, the meticulous three-phase strategy involved a systematic transfer of the clinical team and strategic planning for the isolation and installation of new M&E services.
Regular weekly meetings were conducted to facilitate service reviews and adapt designs to align with evolving working areas. Special attention was dedicated to minimizing disruptions in live clinical spaces, implementing measures for noise and vibration control. Collaborative coordination with the clinical team ensured strategic timing for noisy activities, and rigorous dust control measures were established before any work commenced.
Adapting to these considerations necessitated ongoing client and contractor meetings to harmonize project requirements with hospital operations. The outcome is an advanced facility prioritizing practicality and design efficiency. Stringent compliance with infection control rules and HTM regulations, along with top-notch specifications, was consistently maintained.
The visually stunning new department, tailored for dementia and mental health patients, incorporates acoustic features such as glass sliding doors for a quieter environment. Noteworthy improvements include pendants that carry emergency M&E services, facilitating smooth movement over patients. Despite the challenges encountered in the first phase, the unwavering support of the Trust and the clinical team led to the successful enhancement of the A&E patient experience, ensuring a more streamlined and comfortable process for all stakeholders involved.
