The Old Waterworks

Ashstone MEP were appointed to deliver MEP services and infrastructure design for The Old Waterworks residential development in Charing, Kent, by Quinn Homes, involving the sensitive conversion of the former waterworks site into high-quality private houses.

The scope of services included the coordinated design of mechanical, electrical, and public health systems, incorporating air source heat pump (ASHP) solutions to provide efficient, low-carbon heating across the development. Ashstone MEP also designed external lighting to support safety, accessibility, and the overall site layout.

In addition, Ashstone MEP delivered co-ordinated buried services design across the site, ensuring integrated and buildable utility routes, and developed electric vehicle (EV) charging infrastructure to support future resident requirements.

Designs were progressed in close collaboration with the wider design team to balance buildability, regulatory compliance, and the sensitive redevelopment of a historic site.
